Transfer Case Cross Member Question

Pretty basic - just wondering about a notch in the crossbar. If it's normal. It's a 2002 4x4 f150. Thanks.

Absolutely not. Someone cut that out at some point ...guess they couldn't get the torsion bar key out so they decided to chop the cross member and drop the whole thing down.... time to hit the junk yard...
