Default tranny troubles please help

I have a 03 f150 fx4 with the 5.4 engine. After my truck shifts into overdrive at 50mph it bucks until I hit above 53mph. It only does this with overdrive on and when im just barely on the throttle.

Does anybody know what could cause this? And if I have to get a new tranny or rebuild it should I just order a new Trans from monster for $2000 or pay the $1500 for the rebuild at a local shop.

If you do a Google search, you will see that these transmissions shudder right as the torque converter locks when the fluid gets bad. Try a fluid and filter replacement. It removed the shudder from mine. It sounded like I was going over rumble strips.

Mines nothing like rumble strips. This feels like the rear end just hit a huge dip and it bottomed out.

Try checking the coils first. Mine would buck right around the shifting point for OD and it was a COP problem. Took it to the dealer for a diagnostic and thats what it was so i didnt even need a new coil, just cleaned it. It is extremely common for these trucks and a simple fix

I would 2 check for misses. Differences in load will cause misses. May set a pending code in the PCM, may set something in mode six data. If you are lucky enough to have cylinder contribution functions, should lead right to what cylinder is causing the problem if it is a miss causing your problem. If you rule out misses. May be something with the torque converter clutch solenoid being gummed or sticky. Fluid condition would be very dark for gummed! Old converters for the AOD trans had ballooning issues, which would clunk or slam into OD. The AOD turned into the AODE then to what you have the 4R70W.
