Default Tranny dipstick tube broke -- common?

Hello, all,

New to this forum.

I just purchased a 2002 F150. V6 4.2L, auto trans. 2wd. ext cab.

The tranny dipstick tube was loose, and appears to has come un-welded from the tab. There is a hole where the tab came un-welded, and the dipstick keeps poking through it instead of going down into the pan.

I am trying to find a replacement dipstick tube, but all are all showing replacements for a 5.4L. Would this be the same thing? The transmissions should be the same, right? Or would the bracket location be different on a 5.4L?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Joe

It's common enough.... not an epidemic though. My thoughts on a new one? The piece going into the trans is going to be the same for all three motors. You're probably going to have to modify the way it mounts to the head though. I would do that, or look for a used tube. Wrecking yard, ebay.... or www.car-parts.com might help too.

Look what I found.... It's steep though, and for a van. Might work.
