Tranny died at 189k
Couple days ago I got a P0712 code on trans. About 150 miles later was shifting fine, going about 55 into town (5 mile round trip) in overdrive it pops in to fourth then back into OD a couple times. Then it happens a couple more times, next it decides to do it between third and fourth. When pulling in to my place it decides to slip neutral and bang into first from a stop a couple times. Knew it was toast from there. Fluid in between cold and hot mark when hot. Drop pan and changed filter... this is what I find

That sucks
all depends on rest of truck and how much money you want to put in, what you use it for, how long you plan to keep it.
cheapest is wrecking yard no doubt.
Driving vehicles isnt free....forever.
New ones depreciate rapidly
Used newer ones 5 yrs old or so still depreciate $2000 or more per yr
Used older ones require repairs and upkeep.. maybe $1000 /yr on avg. You might go a while with zero, but eventually it catches up.
These vehicles are still made very well and cheap to keep going, relatively speaking.
Ive had GM and Toyota trucks that I thought "Ill keep this forever" when they were 5 yrs old. By the time they got 200+K I wanted to get rid of them. Everything falling apart. (although I did keep toyota 23 yrs, it was POS by that time). 14 yrs, 226000 miles, and I love my F150 Supercrew. Its in great shape. definitely worth repairing to me. I wouldnt blink before putting in an upgraded transmission.

Alright guys here the plan. I plan on buying new for a warranty. I could get one from orileys with a 3 yr unlimited mile for 1500 OR go with a different company to get one that can withstand bigger hp numbers. The goal is to eventually also put a semi built engine and a SC. Anyone have any ideas on what company? Also should I run a better tourque converter? I'm reading that stock is only good for 300hp

Depends on the cash really, with your plans you'll need a 400 hp build at least. I'm not sure how the builds and #'s go on the Trans and TC. How do the builds line up ? What are ypur choices basically ?

monster tranmission maybe? have heard good things and I know they offer warranty as well as 3 different grades of 4R70W's. I wanna say that it they rebuilt them for what you want. I believe they offer 3 types of variations. a slightly built over factory specs, a medium duty, and a heavy duty version. I wanna say the mid is only $1600. just something to look into. sorry about yours
