Depending on the size of the boat really. I know a guy who used to pull an 18' pontoon with a 80HP merc on the back with his 02' pontiac minivan... he said the boat and trailer only grossed about 2300 lbs

yea boats really dont weigh that much. just when your pullin it out dont let the tires spin or your jus gonna slide back down the ramp. 4wd would help if you get in that situation but not sure if you have it or not

if your 2wd don't even try, you'll be sorry. but if you're 4wd it should work as long as you have decent tires that aren't worn out. I've seen people on the boat ramp around here spin even in 4wd pulling regular size boats out of the water.

You should be fine. I have a '99 reg. cab 4.2. I pull my 16/ft with no problem and I've pulled my buddies 23/ft bayliner capri which is quite a bit heavier and the truck still does fine.

All good responses. I have a 21ft Sea Ray Cuddy Cabin, the ramp I launch at is excellent for traction, real deep "V" grooves for traction. Even with boat off trailer as long as I go easy on the gas it does the job. Thing to remember is once a wheel starts to spin, traction is lost. Go slow and easy.

The 4.2L, I find is really lacking on the over the road highway driving, luckely my launch ramp is 14 miles away and all up hill, its second gear all the way, but so was my 1973 with a 390, 2900ft elevation change is a challenge.
