OK and actually I found one now that was for a 97-03 f150. Now I just have to track down the speakers

So I got a new head unit for my truck and I'm not planning on do anything else to the interior sound system. Not to picky when drivin around for sound wise. The stock unit was good enough for me but I wanted a USB in rather then FM transmitter. Anyway I think I might just hook up an amp to the unit and wire some boat speakers to the back of the tool box. Would this be as simple as powering via toggle switch so its not on while I'm driving?

Yep, just run the remote wire to the toggle and you are good to go.

That's the blue wire from the radio harness correct?

It is a blue wire in every case I have come across. That is probably the simplest way to run exterior speakers with the smallest amount of hassle. I will probably follow your lead on this one.

Alright I think this should work then. Now I just need to find an amp and some good marine speakers to drill onto the toolbox.
By the way the blue wire is not in use right now cause I don't have an amp so all I would have to do is extend it get to the toggle switch. I may just do the wiring before hand so all I have to do is connect the amp and mount the speakers

That would be the smart thing to do, since you'll have the radio out anyway and can run RCA's and remote turn on from the back of it.

Have you considered something along these lines? Not a lot of money but should be more than enough sound with enough power for the speakers without over powering them and killing your battery.
