Default Too much oil

I I hadn't changed my oil in a long time, something like 8000 miles lol. I know it's bad but the rx7 gets most the attention now. Anyways so I check the oil and nothing on the dipstick. Never have had to top off the oil before. 143k miles. The damn thing was 3.5 quarts low. I change my own oil and know I put six quarts in last time I changed it. Motor does not smoke so I doubt it burnt that much oil. I changed the oil today finally and put in six quarts and was not reading on the dipstick. Had to add another 1.5 quarts to get it to full on the dipstick. Where is all this oil going lol? It's like a women's purse...

Either in the coolant, leaking out somewhere or high consumption due to short trips.

Change your PCV valve (it is easy to do and cost less than $10) and see if that makes a difference. It should only take 6 quarts and taking 7.5 is a real puzzle.

Either the wrong oil (too thick) or the dipstick seat is bad. Could be a combination of both.

But , with that much oil in there, - it'll froth. Which means the mains will go dry periodically, not to mention what that does to the gaskets. Somethings going to go, - - Head gaskets, Cam cover. Over oiled is worse that running her a little low. VERY hard on the engine. Never put more than 6 quarts in the crank case. In fact, you should be below the top hash on the stick..like a 1/4" below. Top hash is the overfill MAX. Running it at the top hash mark shouldn't/well won't hurt it, - more than that and pushing your luck. That's how you blow gaskets in a hurry.
