Was going back and forth between the Toyos and Coopers. Decided on the Coopers after reading many reviews. Didn't pull the trigger until I found them for over a 100 bucks cheaper right before Christmas (only 1 place was offering them this cheap). They were shipped right from the factory, so they are fresh.

I decided against Toyos because of the many road noise complaints...only reason. The noise worsens as they age.
However, there were some road noise complaints on the Coopers as well, but many reviews contradicted that stating the Cooper AT3's were very quiet for Load E tires. These two manufacturers are fairly equal in quality and price for comparison.

Anyway, thanks for all the help with steering me in the right direction fellas. I paid 166.31 per tire, 665.24 w/free shipping. Discount Tire up town wanted 798 for a set, just for the tires.

Now I have to get these mounted, -

This is were I purchased them, -

I've been watching prices for quite awhile, these guys ^^^ ended up being the cheapest. They have an E bay store as well, but I chose to order them right from their web site instead since their website had much more contact info. Also ordering this way is usually faster in shipping. E bay isn't hacking into the selling price which can slow shipping down considerably. It's proved a better way all around to do business if you have the opportunity. If your pricing tires, hit that link for sure. Like I said previously, they were the only guys who had a good price on tires...these anyway.

walmart should mount them!
You said you got E load rating?
let me know how they ride. I always stuck with the P(c) tires and wondered if I should get E's since she's always on the road.

I love Toyo A/T's. I had them on my '97 F-150 and we just put a set on my dads Escalade. I personally don't know what people are complaining about with road noise, but then again my truck was loud and the Escalade is loud lol.

Let me know how you like those Coopers, I'm in the market for a new set of tires soon for my F-250 but I just don't feel like Toyo A/Ts are worth the price. I'm also liking that 55k mileage warranty.

Yes they are E1's, I posted the specs.- 80psi max. Thick, heavy 50 lbs per tire with a little more tread than P's. That's all I've had in the past as well (P series "C"). I was going for tires which were more puncture proof and heavy sidewalls. So this is a trial a and error sort of thing. I'll keep the thread updated. The trucks front end is like new now and rides extremely well with somewhat bald tires (1/8" left) lol.

Most complaints (when they were specific) was when the Toyo's were close to 50%. I don't recall complaints specifying noisy when new.

Awesome.

Ive had lots of tires over the years. Most are quiet when new and get louder as they wear.

My cooper AT3 in LT285 were $800 delivered, and $70 visa gift card or such for $730 I think.. Picked a seller on ebay that had best price, free shipping, no tax.

Simply couldnt beat it. Id put them right up there with any tires Ive ever had. Including toyo AT, BFG AT, Bridgestone dueler A/T, etc. In fact, because they were so much cheaper, Id have to put them above those tires. I paid $1000-1100 for a few sets of BFG. No complaints yet at 25000 miles. I need to rotate...

Walmarts the shizzle for mounting and balancing for me., about $65 or so.

Thinking about running up to Belle Tire for a mount, balance and alignment. Didn't know Walmarts did this. Do they do alignments as well? Also, I'm going to chalk gauge them for correct pressure unloaded to determine a set pressure to keep them at. Unless theres another way, I can't think of any. Perhaps start at the vehicles place card pressure and work from there.

Here's a Ford tag using 245/17's E range. Shows 55 front and 60 rear. That should be about perfect for your air pressure range. It should give you a good range. It may be a newer tag, but an older shows very similar and was hard to copy and still read. lol

The E range tires need more air to inflate correctly, which surprised me. I think I have about 50 in mine. I had a few pr of D range LT285 BFG TA(which I guess they quit making, one of the reasons I liked the BFG was this lighter softer tire) did great at 38
