TIRE SIZE FOR 5in LIFT
Hey guys I'm gonna be getting a 5in suspension and I plan to go off-roading too. I've heard people say 37s and 35s. Which size do Yall think would fill up the wheel well but size but not rub when I go muddin?

35's will do you the best. I am on a 5" rough country lift with 35's, let me know if yuo want pics.

My truck is a pavement princess, the most it sees is a gravel road with some potholes lol. If you get the kit don't even put the U-bolts on, they are garbage. Get quality ones before you get the lift, I had the rough country ones on for 4-5 months and they just kept stretching, every month I had to go out and tighten them up. I got new really thick ones and when I took the old U-bolts off I had a big flat spot where the touch the axle.
I don't do any off roading, I'm not an engineer, but this kit has you stack blocks in the rear for the lift and people say that is a bad idea. Other than that, I don't see why people complain about the kit, it rides nice and looks good. People often recommend to spend the extra 300 bucks and get the zone 6". When you lift your truck, if you stay on your stock springs you will flatten them out. I got springs out of a F-250 and put an add a leaf in there and they have not flattened. The reason why the RCX lift isnt recommended is due to the multi piece drop cross members. If you do heavy wheeling Your are going to trust some cheap chinese bolts to keep them together.
The zone is a better kit for the money. Its essentially a BDS 6" at a discounted price. Just get a AAL, 1 6" block and better u-bolts. |
Red ford said it the best you can still do some pretty heft wheeling but u bolts and leafs will wear quick but for the price it isn't bad but if I were to go back and do it again I'd go with the zone kit

The only reason I went with the rough country one was because I wanted to get it from a store front. If anything is over 100 bucks I just will not buy it online lol. My choices where rough country or skyjacker, and skyjacker is just way too expensive so I went with the Rough country. The Rough country kit does have you re-using your old bolts which isn't a bad thing, I would just think you would get all new hardware. For example they give you 6 bolts for the torsion bar drop brackets (3 on each side), so you will have to use the 3 that previously held your cross member to the frame. Again, not a big deal just one of those things I found odd.
If I where to do it again, I would do the Rough country one again. To me it is one of the best looking kits almost just because of the RCX skid plates haha. It works for the purpose I use it for. I don't look at these trucks as off road trucks, if you want an offroad vehicle go get a Samurai (or a long bed crew cab truck if you like mudding). Everyone has their own views though lol, it could be because I spend WAY too much money on my truck and I am worried about what will break if I go out wheeling haha. |
