I wanted to cut my cats as well however I can't pass inspection here in Texas without cats, rule is if it was sold new with cats from the factory it must remain. However you can get new cats with better flow and change the exhaust for minimal turns and a glasspack muffler. But I di like my thrush, got a little louder after a few months but it doesn't bother anyone yet rumbles nicely and when you step on it it sounds good too.

I can't find the thread but there is one that describes that. To ditch the cats but still be legal just cut the pipe behind the cat and clear it out then have the pipe welded back on. You use spark plug non-foulers to fool the back oxygen sensors. Either search non-foulers or someone will post a link...

The 95 XLT 5.0 has two cats on it too, seems a pita to me to do that however if you got the time & tools or the money to have it done somewhere, sounds like a plan
