On your thoughts about getting rid of your truck. Sometimes I think the same thing, but when I need "truck things", I am quickly reminded of why I keep the old brute around. I only drove it once or twice for 4X4 all winter long, but when I need to haul crap around, there's nothing I'd rather have. Well... besides a Super Duty with a 7.3 PSD and a super cab. LOL.
She made it fown tk Florida! 10 hour drive, 648 miles, one quart if oil and an estimated 18 miles to gallon on the hwy. She ran between 190 and 198 the whole drive.

Yeah, I may just need to consider keeping it. It's paid for, it's in great shape, and the motor only has a little over 50k on it. And White, you're correct. It comes in handy for doing "truck things" like this...
I've been out in the heat for waaaaaay too long today. I only got part of the Explorer done. I put all my $4!T away for the night though. I'm still not 100% over whatever infection I've got. (all of my tests are negative so far though)
I don't understand this. The ball joints seem like they are too tall to me. But this is a snapshot from another guy's video, and his are the same way. To me, that snap ring should be down against the LCA.
This is my pic from underneath. It's seated right where it should be.

That's a nested tower that's about 55' tall when extended. The City was going to a scrap it, but donated it to our radio club. I didn't realize the scale of it, and was going to put it at my house, but it's way, way too big for that. Hauled it to another ham members house who lives out in the boonies, and needs the height.
