No, I'm doing gears and a rear disc swap on it, so I'll do it when I tackle that job. The fluid is too expensive to do it twice... especially when the fluid costs so much (not to mention friction modifier).

I hear that, I haven't done mine yet, I keep going back and forth between getting a cover with a fill hole. Same with the transmission fluid,

Sometimes you win, sometimes ya don't...

Buddy just bought this 08 1200 Sportster for 3k at auction.

Idiot that hauled it here strapped it down on the kickstand and broke the frame where the kickstand mounts.
Had the weight of the bike bouncing on the kickstand all the way from Kalamazoo.

Using the rear tire of the Camaro to rest the foot peg against while in gear until I get it into the garage.

That is supposed to be a loop that the pivot pin goes thru.

And the piece is missing.
Thinking I might be able to weld in a couple hardened 1/2 washers top and bottom.
Also looking at a couple aftermarket kickstands that might work also.

This Sporty is kinda rough, been stored outside for a bit and it has done some damage.

Mud wasp heaven.

Rusty spokes.

Peeling chrome on the back wheel.

Rusty back fender and peeling paint.

More rust.

Even the sparkplugs are rusty.

Mud wasps in the air cleaner.

It's a 08 with supposedly 15k miles, tires are date coded 2012,

I really wish he had me look for a bike, lots of nice ones for sale.
He will probably have as much into this as one with no rust in good shape.

I hope that nest is empty. I've already got the little bastards building nests behind my shutters.

Phil,

Not really into street bikes, not sure what worth. Money AND a ton of elbow grease with that one.

Prob be easier to remove that ear w/eyelet and fab/weld another for kick stand. It's looks thick enough to MIG if it's a carbon steel. You use that blaster for restoration? NM you already had a plan to fix, just noticed. That's not a bike trailer lol. Prob should of through so temp wheel channels w/stop down first. Maybe he couldn't I don't know.

Looking for a Husqvarna 81 plus 430 or the newer 500 CR if come across any for sale. Had an older 390 in HS. Fixer up or one that's been restored with factory replacement parts.

Not very many out there. If you happen to cross one.

I'm a real sucker for the talk box that Frampton used. Coheed and Cambria's Travis Stever used the hell out of his Heil Talk Box on their live performance of "Final Cut".

The pivot pin for the kickstand rides in bushings, need a new top one.

I think I am going to grind the frame smooth and trim this washer to fit in the missing piece, then weld it in.

Then weld this washer on the top side all the way around.

What do you think ?
