Forgot about this one.. How do you know it's filling the t-case, draining from the upper plug ?

Haven't heard of this one. Perhaps that's why they've blown in the past. Others blamed Merc V for it ...

It's been awhile, I need to go through some old notes and refresh the memory a bit.

Low trans fluid, no leaks, and the last time this happened, the t-case level was way above the fill plug. Going to head out shortly to drain the excess at least so I don't pop a T-case seal. Not sure how soon I'll be able to drain and refill with the proper fluid, though.

Not sure I would of caught that until servicing...5 year accumulation right? It would of had to be noticeable more fluid in there as well. Doesn't really take that much fluid to begin with.

Good catch!

Well, I might fill and drain, rather anally once, then check in 3 & 6 months and a then a year. Bounce that year against recommended intervals, the fluid level, and implement your own choice of answers. Like, do it on her birthday. That way it will help you remember it. The birthday, I mean.

I changed my trans fluid this last go at 6 years. It only had about 15,000 miles on it though. Now that it's not my daily, it hardly gets driven.

I change the Toyota once a year.
