I got a call at 1:30 a.m. this morning from my daughter. She was getting on the freeway (actually right by Dave's Auto Center) and her accelerator pedal dropped to the floor. Over the phone, I was able to diagnose that the cable had broken it's retainer that holds it in the bracket. So, I grabbed my zip tie drawer (I really do have one) and drove 45 miles to get it and bring it back home.
It's ugly, my work is sloppy, but the damn thing got me home.
Cheaper than a tow.
I used my boot laces twice to get me home from 4 wheeling back in the day.
I agree... much cheaper. My Sister's BF offered to let us use his AAA, but I was already halfway there. Pretty damn confident that I'd find a way to get 'er home, lol.
I ordered the new cable early this morning. Stupid order still says "in progress". I hope that doesn't mean they don't have it.
This week I got rid of a bunch of crap. Already two truck loads to the landfill... and another going in the morning. I just gave away a set of wheels and tires.
My Wife wanted the fence pewter gray, and the house lights antique brass. Also painted the front door and shutters. Why? She's hosting a baby shower here, lol.
