We have those at work as well. They are about half the size of a mining dump. It's the worst thing to run, you have to be fast and the haul roads aren't the greatest. You get beat up pretty good...the new guys start out in those things lol.

Crazy good money for a youngster here, between 40-50 dolla an hour now. You can rake it in that's for sure.

Her job isn't as bad with a mining outfit. Roads are much better, quite a bit more tame. It's a little boring..repetitious..pays great though!

But yeah , an old mining pit like that is something to see.

Your dad worked on some big stuff. Closest I've come to one that size was at Cat in Peoria Ill in one of their simulators. They put us on a bus when I was much younger and took us to the show, -

I had another Buddy that worked there. He backed that mammoth over/in the bed of his bosses brand new super duty. He didn't get fired either, lol. But now he works at a different place running an excavator.

BTW, I broke out the Wagner HVLP for the fence. MUCH faster, but uses more paint.

I think that before I bought this, you and I had a discussion about these, Brew. I'm not a huge fan of "indoor" painting with it, but for a fence it works sweet.

As a.past.contractor, I was told, spray a fence, but follow.with a roller to even it out and prevent runs. Only got to try it once. Seemed true. Sprayer applies - so no dipping into a roller pan. Fast, good.

Heard you better thin the paint/stain some if you don't want any troubles with those. I don't have one myself, daughter bf has one..I haven't used one yet.

I had the handheld electric one years ago when I did decks.
Spray and then roll/ brush was definitely the trick to an even finish.

Yeah, the bf said it would get blotchy on him once in awhile if he didn't thin it first.

So, strangely enough, I read in a few places that washer fluid is good to thin out latex paint for spraying. So, I gave it a whirl. It worked rather well. Paint thinner is 22 bucks a gallon, so washer fluid was more cost effective.
