Its sad that you can get a new fan less than a used junk yard fan nowadays. All the fans i found on marketplace or ebay were in the 80s.
Yeah, it's weird for sure. Strange days we're living in. I still feel covid is an excuse for a lot of the supply chain and cost issues. There's no reason that shouldn't be back to normal.
I realized a big problem with my Lexus efan project - I only have 4" between the rad and the engine pulleys. Not sure what I can do about that, but just the motors in the good Ford fans are deeper than that.
It's a hot unit. I got this put in, and had to come in to cool off. I've been dealing with a POS mailbox for 7 years.... that was 7 years too long. This is an aluminum post, which I filled with post mix. So it should be solid. Setting this up next to an unlevel mailbox plays tricks on your brain, LOL.
I love using factory Ford cooling fans that need to be replaced for one reason or another (if the fan portion is okay)
Last one I re-used / recycled, was off a Ford Flex that melted the hell out of the relay (part of the 1000 dollar fan assembly)
I removed that Denso / Ford relay and installed the fan on my 65 Impala with just a new ISO relay
To say that those new car fans are powerful, is an understatement
LOL, I should have. Even after I was done, I kept wondering if my level was off. This proves I was good.

I had started to use one out of a Fusion on my 88, but after I crashed the numbers for the variable speed controller, I was in better shape pulling another Taurus fan.
The Taurus, T-Bird, Cougar, Mark VIII, and Contour fans are pretty righteous contenders. CO and I had a conversation about the CFM ratings... I was supposed to be getting a tool to measure the CFM, but it hasn't arrived yet. I'll be doing some tests when that gets here. I'm also going to do some load testing.
EDIT: Geez, this is the only pic I can find of the Fusion fan that I mocked up for my 88. What a crappy pic.

What fan were you wanting to use? The Contour setup is a little thinner. Here are the dimensions:

I was planning on the tbird fan, which is 5.8". Any cfm data on this one? Looks like a solid contender, size wise.
I can't believe how wimpy the aftermarket fans are. Flex a lite suggested one that barely fits, yet somehow only produces 2500cfm IN FREE AIR with two fans!
