Default Thinking of buying a F150

Hi there, I'm new here and I'm thinking of moving to ford from chevy by purchasing a 2003 F150 with 145,000 miles on it. It's a 4x4. Body wise it has no rust but undercarriage looks a little rusty. I'm wondering what you guys think looking at the photos;

Is it worth the $5000 - $6000? Should I ? Worried it going to be a rust bucket

looks like its in great shape. I would pay around 5 for that. Too many miles for my taste. But it looks like it was taken care of.

Thank you for the reply. I'm just hoping that with little TLC with rust control, new shocks and stuff it'll be able to pull my 3500 trailer for a few years

Looks great to me.

Easily worth 7k private or 8-9k dealer for my area.

Buy it! You'll be happy coming from a Chevy, that's for sure!

I agree that you won't be disappointed if you buy it.

I just invested in a new Jasper 5.4 engine, rear end, shocks, brakes, ball joints, brake lines front and rear, sweet new wheels and General Grabbers for my 2000 F150 4WD and it's like she's brand new again.

Don't let the appearance of rust sway you. All older vehicles look rusty underneath.
You can have it evaluated by a mechanic too if you are really concerned.

Thanks guys... Chevy has been a trip and I guess doing my research I've heard very good about ford but also hear bad about it too. It's a 4.6 so I'm guessing less troubles then 5.4L?

Yes a lot of pictures, the PO is real nice to send them without me even taking a look at it but I will today.

Anything really I should be looking for? And how do I figure out if it's broken or not. I'm guessing joints and stuff is the same as on chevy, to much play here or here or rubbers gone it needs replacement. Anything else I should see and keep eye out for? I'm being told it had very good maintenance done and just been detailed. Carfax isn't the cleanest as someone drove it into an object 400 miles into the purchase new in 2003. I would be the 5th owner it looks like also. Rating is 78 out of 89 the lowest.

Still with carfax history I should buy it or look for a one owner?

I wouldn't worry about the amount of owners. Not that important, especially since it looks that good.

I know most people here change all the fluids and thoroughly inspect and replace worn parts when purchasing a vehicle. With any luck, the other owners followed suit and did it as well.

I know some f150s come with tranny cools, right? Any way to check that's there, maybe through a sticker or something?
