Thinking about a procharger?
Well nothing feels better than driving a paid for truck, I know these newer trucks have the big hp numbers and I want some of that without the payments! I have done some light research and I think procharger is one of the few kits still made for my 1999 5.4. Anybody have any advice on one? What precautions should I take with my truck? I dont want to race it or abuse it, just a little more power when towing would be nice. So basically am I gonaa tear up my engine? tranny? Anything I could do to beef things up to handle the extra power? Any input is appreciated!
-new job lots more money burning a hole in my pocket!!!!!!!!!!!

i have a 2002 5.4 with 155,xxx and i thought about but with a procharger comes consern for compression ratios, how worn are you rings, do your valves seat tight, timming, higher octane fuel, and of course the weak spark plug threading into the heads. just food for thought

Procharger makes a decent kit still. You can run 6 psi and really not need too many supporting mods. Of course things all have to be in proper working order before going that way. If you're towing, I'd first look into gears before going forced induction. You'd be surprised how much 4.56's help.

i'd be willing to go 4.10, but for as little as I'm going to be towing my 5th wheel. I need the driveability of higher gears my engine is in perfect running order as far as I know, how bout any input on the tranny. I don't even know which one my truck has, but has anybody had bad luck pushing a lot of power through these stock transmissions?

if engine compression is good in all cylinders, 6-8 lbs of boost is no problem at all.... just need it tuned on the dyno afterwards, to make sure the air/fuel ratio is safe, and timing is safe. Say bye-bye to 87 octane, hello to 91-93 ONLY
