Brew....I have a question on your brake upgrade. How did the stopping power change with just doing the fronts to the BBK? Have you changed the brake booster yet? You kept the rear drum set up right?

lil' Red got finished today for the new brakes all around with Expy fronts and SCrew rear axle with disc. It has good to great stopping power, but I'm going to throw in the big booster tomorrow and see how that helps. If it makes it how I want it, I'll stop there. If I feel that there can be a bigger upgrade, I'll swap the Master Cylinder also. I want the very best braking, that I can put together. So far, I think I'm about there. The booster will decide if more is going to happen or not.

I was afraid that might be the case. I'll double check those fuses too. Worst case yeah I'll run a wire back there real Quick in the morning.

For now she's loaded up and ready to go!

Keep me in your prayers tomorrow as I make the trip up there!

Good luck 2100. I'm sure you will be fine though. I know my truck pulls around 8k without too much fuss so I would imagine that load wouldn't be too different.

Also truck made it up to my buddy's without incident! Forgot to get a pic of my truck at his house. Will get one on Tuesday. You can see the front of mine peaking out behind his toy truck tho....

Truck handled amazing. Didn't feel like I was lacking power at all and the brakes did better than expected... I must've been due for a brake job when I hauled my model b home cz it was sketchy on that ride lol. Truck impressed me once again... love this 10th gen.

Hi Ak, - So far only one problem surfaced from the install, more less my fault because I didn't practice what I preach, - in a matter of speaking. That being the pads I used which were hybrids..combination ceramic/metallic. Caught them fading, just once and during a quick stop. Regardless, easy fix...big boy pads. Totally different feel, braking you can trust and what the folks use that pull any weight (not my experience, not yet anyway). No shortage of knowledgeable Super Duty owners out there who are all about stopping power lol. Granted the F150 is sort of the fine line when it comes to pads...Ceramic vs Metallic. I wasn't pulling or loaded, faded enough to signal a quick pump. However and to be fair, the 98 sat a lot this winter. So, rust buildup on the rotors could of been a factor...I guess. Thermo's from Wagner will be going on very soon.

More directly, -Nope, no pressure problems. Yes, drums. Since the the larger booster came with the rear caliper upgrade from Ford, I most definitely would update the booster if I switched the 98's to calipers in the rear...no question. The two go together IMO. My brake system components including all hard lines have less 60,000 miles on them. With the exception of more than a few original parts, -brake booster, RWABS and proportioning valve. The valve , -
Amazon Amazon
is next.

Haven't had much time to work on her. With winter finally breaking and nice weather lately, the spring fever affect is happening. Even the GF has been out here...think she's digging my kids country bumpkin living lol. It is nice out here. ANYWAY and however I had to remove the brake assembly this morning from the wheels. They rotors rusted solid, enough to lock up the half shafts. Couldn't have that, -needed them free and turning in order to bolt front diff back in sooo. After removal, noticed how extreme the new sytem has rusted. Worst I've seen yet, -the steel pistons are full of it as well. That's going to be a job cleaning up, winter/salt hell right..sucks! I measured the pads w/calipers real quick/4 corners. Pads are wearing perfectly. Other than all that, plenty of power stopping normally, very different compared to my previous set up. Not quite a fair comparison since the previous set up was under par for a stretch of time. So, I'm really not going to know the full extent of improvement until I run right the pads and time test the new system. Best you can do with your set up, is what your doing. I'm certain the new semi-metalics are going to be big game changer for this upgrade. The system itself is working perfectly. I also running my brake retention spring set-ups next go around..since so many swear by them. Any kind of drag friction adds heat, eliminating as much drag as you can is of course a great thing. Talking with a tech in the past about brake dusting and why it looks extreme, -even on some new vehicles was due to that little bit of drag and yes, -cheap pads. However, not all semi metallic pads are the made the same in that regard either. So there yuh go, hope it helps AK, you've helped me plenty!

Thanks Brew. You verified exactly what I thought, but better to have a second opinion. It's easy to check stock things on the interrwebs, but not so easy to check on modifications. If I use logic, then I'd use what the Expy used, and be done with it. It has a dual booster, as the 99 up F150 with this BBK. (Usually the 7700, but Ford shows this as also an upgrade).

Ford does some very weird crap when it comes to brakes. If you look at the Master Cylinders, there are 2 for each application, at least. Cruise and not cruise. Ours is right on the front of the mc. The Expy isn't there at all. It has a tank that has a plug on the left side, and of course the one without cc. The Super Duty one goes off to the side on the right lower for the switch. The non CC is just solid at the port points. It makes just no sense that there are 3 different looking mc's for 3 different applications and there is not a simple combo used. Oh, and of course there are the bore sizes. 1.06, 1.25, 1 5/16 and 1 3/8 are available. The 1 3/8 is for the F450 to F550,.

It's nice to have e/brakes again. lol

Oh, and finally.
