Tapping/Knocking from under my 5.4 F150

Alright, so I got the stethoscope out and stuck it everywhere. Its kind of hard to pinpoint exact location. Definitely back of motor/ front of tranny area. I think more from the tranny with sound sounding a little more echo-y on the motor. Took off the grommet on bottom of bellhousing, flywheel spins pretty true. Ran a different test, a good hard break stand. E brake on and smashing the brake pedal, hit the gas until the brakes couldn't hold anymore - zero noise. Absolutely no clicking/ tapping. Seems like a torque converter based on my reasoning and logic. Fully engaged and under heavy load it has no play in it to cause the clicking. Sound reasonable? I think rod knock would still be occurring as long as engines running.

Sounds reasonable, while I've studied the physics of engines slightly I'm no expert on transmissions. Rod knock you'd hear at the top of the engine. Use your scope at each of the exhaust valves and you'd hear it there.
Edit: There was way too much calculus in those classes, I'm surprised my brains didn't leak out my ears. Glad I don't have to do any of that In Real Life.

Rather than the convertor, I'm thinking front pump or the first planetary set after it. The 4R70's have a weaker front area, than the 4R100. They can make a hell of ticking racket if the gear set is worn or have damage to one of the pins.
I owned a Crown Vic with AODE (basically 4r70) and when the transmission was torn down, the small gears on the planet were all damaged beyond reuse. The aluminum front pump had excessive wear also. This sucker rattled quite a bit at idle.

looks like I'll be visiting a transmission shop soon, either way, beats any engine rebuild I reckon. I really do appreciate all the help. I wonder if a lift with 35s + a commute through mountain passes =shorter tranny life... there's my math for ya, see what I did there? Thanks again fellas.
