Default Tablet to keep an eye on truck?

I have been considering getting a 7" tablet and mounting it somewhere in the truck just to run the torque app and keep an eye on trans temps, mpgs, and other odds and ends in lieu of mounting permanent gauge pods.

Has anyone out there done this? I am not trying to take out my radio. I just want to keep a better eye on things.

This is as close as I can think to what your looking for, have you considered a programmer with a screen? They have them pretty big now

Any tablet and swing arm mount should work although that's not the route I would go.

If that's the way you want to monitor things, I would suggest the SCT Tuner model that lets you use your Tablet. It's a more complete solution, albeit much more expensive.

There in lies my problem. I dont really want a swing arm or a programmer but I may not have a choice.

Also have the 4x4 stick so I cant do an expo console swap.

That might be a good solution. A friend of mine has one of those cheap chinese android radios in his F150 and he can do all of that plus make phone calls.

I think he paid $150-250 for his radio.

Where did you get the picture of that iPad? I've been trying to do the same with my truck but that looks clean as hell. Wouldn't mind paying someone to make me a mount

Just be careful what you are shopping for on ebay. Some say they have normal play store access, some are windows CE machines masquerading as Android, some are some other bizarre variant.

Just be careful and read the descriptions fully and you'll be fine.
