Default ProCharger

Hello All,

I purchased a Procharger from Andysautosport.com You can buy "complete kits" (still need to buy gauges and such) on line for a reasonable price. They say you can install their kits in "8-10 hours with simple hand tools" but unless your putting one of these on everyday that's a little a bit of an exaggeration. As far as performance I put one on my 97' Ford Pickup (5.4L) and I can say I'm not totally blown away it (the truck does run much better), but it may be because I had the engine rebuilt at the same time and I haven't gotten back in and changed the plugs. The procharger kits reuse a lot of stock parts (factory MAF, factory injectors .....) .I believe the kits for the newer trucks (+ 2004) don't rely on secondary FMUs (Fuel Management Units) and rely more on computer programming. Mine is still sitting in the garage (saving up for a dyno tune and more parts). Best of luck shopping around

I think a pro charger setup (centrifugal) would be cool to have and own. I'd have a few things upgraded to it so I could run a lot of boost. For sure upgrade the maf and injectors. Or crap since we're wishing, one of those direct drive units would be icing on the cake.

I myself have had a roots style blower (stock Harley supercharger) for the last 10 years and getting the itch for a twin screw. (Compressor, whipple kennybell)

I've always wanted to throw something like a D-1 on my truck but sadly my money tree hasn't caught up with me yet.

My truck runs 10 PSI of boost at 5000 RPM, isn't so much at the lower RPMs though. I like the procharger but really with just having a 4 speed it would be nice to have the low end power. But on the other hand a Centrifugal on the newer 6 speeds would probably be awesome, haven't found anyone who has done it personally

Centrifugals are more like turbos, they shine in the higher rpm range, if you're looking for an instant punch roots style would be the way to go, their just not as efficient as a twin screw. Yeah 10lbs really isn't much, I'm hitting 14lbs (street tune) and I feel my truck is slow, I'm ready to retune and throw a bigger lower on for 18lbs (race tune) see what that feels like, I'm missing the tq I had when I was hitting 16lbs

Look up flatsman on nloc.net his 97, or maybe it's a 98 f150 has a D1. I've been drooling over that truck for probably 8 or 9 years!
