Did you ever get a CEL so tell you which cylinder was skipping or did you replace them all?

ye its possible to have water/condensation get under the boot and cause the misfire, ive heard of guys drivin through big enough puddles that it causes a misfire then goes away a couple days later after the water evaporates. easy way to tell if ya have cops or coil packs is look at the engine and see if theres 8 plugs total 1 sitting on top of each cylinder, or just 2 larger coil packs but sounds to me like plugs

That makes sense. I had washed my truck pretty thoroughly 4 days ago. However between then and now I drove about 300 miles without any problems and it started after I drove that distance. I haven't driven in any water since then. And yes, I have 8 I just checked to make sure.

It could be either of the things you already mentioned. A bad coil makes sense. In addition, as weird as it sounds my moms expedition (4.6) had the windshield wiper hose come undone and leak wiper fluid all over the coils causing what you are describing. There was no CEL for her either, but it took weeks to fully dry up.

You also mentioned messing with the cold air intake. I changed out my intake and one of the stupid clamps that came with the new hose came loose a few months later, which according to my uncle who is my mechanic, was the main culprit to blowing several coils that I had go bad back to back.

Just to update for anyone experiencing this same problem. I'm taking my truck into another mechanic here in Charleston who said he would run a few tests. I'll update you on Tuesday with the findings.

I have the EXACT problem going on right now with my 02 5.4. Tomorrow morning I'm going to clean the MAF but I'm not gonna get my hopes up for that easy of a fix. I took mine to advanced today and there was no code read. I'm sure it's a coil. I'm really dreading changing out my back two coils. So I'll prolly just purchase the front four and pray that does it. I'll also keep u updated if I find anything worth posting.
