Default Stuck in 4h, help

1997 Ford f150 xlt : 4x4 is engaged no matter what. I disconnected the battery multiple times only to have it go back to 4h from 2wd, the actuators are also disconnected I think the connector going to the transfer case is also disconnected but it always pops up as 4x4 on the dash the following day. Please help my dad and I don't know what else it could be. The 4x4 switch keeps blowing out after a few days its our 2ND switch and we don't want to buy another if the problem isn't fixed. I got it from 4L to 4h not sure how it happened.

Check your fuses and relays- how did it blow the switch? You mean it burned the contacts up in the switch?

You said in another post that the truck sat for a couple of years correct?-if so, double check all your grounds, even the frame to body grounds- make sure they are all clean and tight. Corrosion/rust makes an excellent insulator!

No, just trying to help- this would be the line of progression i would use- there may be others a little more familiar with the system and might be able to point you to a resolution quicker.
Sometimes it just patience and diligence...
