Hey guys just today ive heard a rubbing noise that increases with wheel speed. I just recently balanced my tires and i was up under there looking and coukdnt find any obvious solutions. It is loudest around 20mph. Does anybody have any suggestions?? Thanks in advance

Check everything. Like your brake dust shield. And make sure yourbtires aren't hitting your fenderwells.

Is it in the front or back? If its the back you could need a bearing. If its the front than it could be cv joints. Other than that I honestly wouldn't know where to look. Also is it a high or low pitched sound?

Id say more towards the front from what i can tell. It almost sounds like that squeel you get with a bad power steering pump. Its fairly high pitched and its constant with wheel speed.

they could have bent a backing plate just enough as to where it makes contact with the rotor making that noise if it sounds like its coming from
one particular wheel I'd grab a pry bar or a long screw driver and give the backing plate a firm push back. or if you don't trust yourself take it to the shop that balanced your tires and tell them to fix it.. unless of course you did it then pull the wheel and see if there are silver marks on the backing plate and adjust it so

True. Obvious question is. Is it really a consistsnt sound with 20 mph or is it at a certain rpm.

Yeah tommorow im going to check the backing plate, and after some more driving i noticed as speed increases so does noise level, and vise versa. I balanced the wheels myself so i mustve bumped a back plate in the process, ill look there first.

I would check the wheel bearing.. I had one go out on me at about 70k. When turning it would push your rotors into the side of the calipers causing the noise. This could very well be the problem, especially since accelerating tends to straight up the tires rotation even when the bearing isnt 100%. Hence you hearing the noise at lower speeds. I would check my rotors tomorrow for any play, if so, then its more than likely a bearing.

Thanks alot! I figured that the bearings might be goin bad as well, Especially since i just rolled 145,000 miles the other day.
