Straight piping
Hey guys I have heard so many different results on straight piping my truck. Some say it's bad some say it's good and I just want to know what really is true. I have a 99 f150 5.4 would it be a bad or a good thing to do to it.

I had gotten my uncle's 98 4.6 after he died and he had done duals, but left the cats and when I was home for a week I drove it around as much as possible before I put it on the road and I COULD NOT TAKE THE NOISE. The noise made my head hurt and the morning that I was leaving, I should have been in the bed, preparing for the drive back, I was at the muffler shop getting mufflers put back on the truck. I left the duals and upgraded the pipes (better steel) and I had them to put some magnaflows on. Before we installed the mufflers, I talked with the shop and explained that I wanted a nice rumble (something that you could hear), but i could not have the noise too loud because of the HOA, he laughed, but we picked out some that gave it a nice rumble and tone. Might help to explain that my uncle wore hearing aides and needed a new set.

Its really a sound opinion. Mines a 98 with the 5.4 and I did true duals with no Mufflers then cut the back 2 cats off and love it. But if you don't want to wake the neighborhood up I would say cut the mufflers off and keep all the cats. IMO that setup is just as good as a magnaflow, flowmaster, etc. And its a lot cheaper.

See I would want to do it because I have heard that it sounds badass and can even add a little power and alittle mpgs. So it does seem like something I will do as long as it doesn't harm anything?
