Warspite, great find, as this link is great. I can definately put this to good use on my '95 Maxima which idles too high. Thing is, the '99 Expedition idle is normal. That's not to say that the process wouldn't solve the problem... it's just that the symptoms are different. It kind of sputters or misses w/ vibration as it is going down the road.

Hey all, still have this problem to deal with. My wife is fed up with rental cars, so guess I'd better get after it. I've purchased a pcv hose assembly with the proper 3/4" fitting for the back of the intake manifold to eliminate that as a possible source. It may be worth mentioning that it uses quite a bit of oil that does not seem to show up as smoke from the tailpipe, nor as puddles under the car. However the engine does look a bit grungy, like there could be a leaks somewhere. I've seen accounts similar to this where somehow the oil is dealt with via "burning" through the exhaust system or something. Still need some recommendations to nail this down. Thoughts?

Oh gosh do I feel like an idiot. I hadn't pulled a code since "fixing" the vacuum leak, as I just assumed that I hadn't been successful with that. Turns out that this was a misfire on cylinder #1. Changed coil, plug and boot - runs like a million.

You'll feel like an idiot for 10 minutes - until you calculate how much money you saved by chasing it down yourself! Good Job!

Talking Happy camper

I have a 2000 f150 extended cab that was given to me by my mom... Not long after it needed maintenance done.. Brakes, new rotors, belts, etc.. The obvious after having 130k miles on it...keep in mind it ha towed another truck with a busted tranny (uhummm... A silverado =p) but now then the haunting service engine soon light came on... THANKS TO YOU GUYS!! and this forum, I cleaned the IAC valve and problem solved..I must admit I am a chevy head, but after this truck, I am thinking I may do the BIG switch..lol

+1 on that. Many bowtie truck friends of mine are into major component repairs (water pumps, radiators, AC Compressors) on vehicles with close to half the mileage I have (137K).
Can't beat the Blue Oval for trucks!
