Default Sparkplug type

So i was looking at the sparkplug with the point tip and the ones with the flat tip. I ordered some sparkplug with the pointy end for my dads truck after a few years realized that I'm pretty sure that the truck had to use the flat end spark plugs. Is there a difference between them? Now my dad passed the truck down to me so I don't have a clue how the truck performed with the flat tip spark plugs. I posted a example not my photo

So long as they are Motorcraft SP-504 (9AGSF34FM) for the 4.2, Motorcraft SP-493 (AGSF32PM) for the 4.6 or Motorcraft SP-479 (AGSF32PM) for the 5.4 it does not matter what the tip looks like.
Usually the finer tip is on platinum or iridium plugs to give better spark, and some tips are finer than others.

What if you purchased the spark plug that is meant to be installed in your mystery motor?

Instead of looking for 'the ones with a pointy end".

I was thinking similar to above, that the type of electrode is a different material.

I know you have posted/commented numerous threads but I'm not smart enough to remember what you are working on.
I'll go back to the simple suggestion of purchasing the spark plugs by part number that is meant for your particular motor.

I have one of each type in the garage right now. There is one right answer for me since one of them is from a motor nearly 30 years old and no longer made. Thee other plug is for a newer motor.

Cause I'm reading online and some say the other and this and that. I dont have any bad issues I just came across a post and remembered that the sparkplugs where pointy and the ones my dad took out had a flat end.

Why crap? That is the correct plug for the 4.6.

As for pointy tip or flat, no real difference, unless new it had pointy and when you removed them it is flat, then you basically used up the plug and would have a huge gap.
Like this:

This was from an '04 F150 5.4 with 150,000 miles on the plugs.
