Default Snapped my rear leaf spring brackets

I've had this truck for a few years now, it's starting to rust at the cab corners and as I discovered this morning it's also pretty bad underneath. I loaded a couple of yards of mulch and just as I pulled into my street I had a bang, that's when the rear leaf spring brackets just snapped. Has anyone ever had this happen to them and can you get replacement brackets for this? I can't tell but it looks like they were welded on?

It is common enough that most parts stores should have replacement shackles in stock. At least that was the case when it happened to me. Should run ~$60 for each bracket give or take.

Very common. Parts stores should keep them in stock. They're not welded, just a couple of bolts.

I bought them on ebay and amazon for $30 or 40. Get the part# then do a search for better price. rockauto.com is a place to buy and see whats avail.

I'm surprised mine didn't go through the bed, I have about 800 lbs of mulch in it right now. Thankfully it let go about 300 yards from my house. It looks like it will be much easier to fix with the bed off, I might as well handle the cab corners at the same time.

Just make sure you have a socket breaker bar to loosen or break off bolts. I don't have enough guts to use torch lol.

Yea, they rust out between the bracket eyes first , -in the center. Then it's just a matter of time before that break off.

Both at the same time tho ? It must of been awhile since you had a load in thing.

The brackets on these things are woefully inadequate. And Ford shackles are notorious for rusting.

Can someone tell me what that hanging rod is for (the tire is in the background of it)?
