Question Sluggish acceleration when hot

Alright I have searched every keyword I can think of and no luck. I'm sure others must have the same problem. During the summer my 01 SCREW 4x4 with tow package begins to get sluggish when accelerating and I get a whine form either the tranny or motor. It has happened every time the outside temps reach 90+ since I have owned the truck I bought it brand new, it mostly occurs during stop and go in the city. It could be that I live in Tucson and its hotter then hades here in the summer. But I was wondering if it could be the tranny getting to hot and would a upgraded transmission cooler help. Has anyone else experienced this and if so any luck trouble shooting it.

'Ive never had this happen but maybe your tranny is overheating...Hows the tranny fluid level? Serviced it lately? A trans cooler would help that for sure.

Also it could be cooling fan. At a stop, it's hot, rpm is low and the clutch engages the fan more. When you take off, the fan is a huge load on the motor. After a few seconds of the engine revving and speed increasing, the fan starts to dis-engage again and it's feels less sluggish.

The tranny is serviced regularly, but it does seem to be worsening as the truck ages though. I have also been considering an electric fan to try to help keep it cooler, but have not done much research on it yet. Maybe I'll do both, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem before I throw a bunch of money at it. Thanks for the input.

The more I think about it the more I do think its your fan clutch staying on more to cool your engine.
A E fan may be your first best bet....

yeah now that you mention it that could be the problem because it does smooth out at higher RPM. I think I will try the Efan first. Thanks for the help. I'll post the results.
