Shutter when fuel is low
I've had no issues, other than when the gauge is below 1/4 but before low fuel light comes on. I usually fuel up and no problem. Today the shutter was the worse and I got a CEL. I filled up and disconnected the battery. CEL disappeared and no problem. Now, remember I drive this truck rarely. I've only put about 600 miles in 3 months. The plugs and coils are good. I plan on cleaning the MAF and throttle body this week. It has new fuel filter too. Other than that I'm clueless why it shutters, I guess I'll just keep the tank fairly fuel until its resolved.
These in tank pumps don't normally act up intermittent. Usually when they die, they just die all at once but there's always Murphy and his law. What could be happening is your pump is overheating by not being fully submerged due to shifting fluid but that's just a basic guess assuming it is the problem.
Instead of clearing the CEL, have it read to see what it is.
If you can repeat the process every time by being under 1/4 tank then it may very well be the pump.
Before someone suggests it, the filter would not cause an issue like this.
I'm curious to what your fuel pressure is at.

Hope it's not the pump cause it didn't again tonight. Slight shutter at idle and BIG shutter at 40mph. I'm starting to think its a COP, no CEL so I sorta hope it pops up so can read the code. I'm only driving it for maybe 4-5 miles so I'll try and drive longer distance tomorrow after work and see what happens.
Drove the 25 miles into the office this morning and she was a dog. 40-60mph was nothing but shutter and shake. Got the 70mph on the interstate and I would have intermittent shutter...I would have smooth driving, shutter for 10-15 seconds and then right back to smooth driving. CEL came on, flashed for about 10 seconds, and then went off. I'm flabbergasted, no clue what this could be as its so inconsistent. I'm going to seafoam, clean MAF, and TB this weekend. It's almost like its not getting fuel, injectors may be going out since COPs and plugs are good.

Well thanks to the site, I think I know what direction to go in. From my understanding, the plugs were changed before I bought the truck. However, the previous owner had the truck detailed and COPs got wet...causing a CEL. They were dried and re installed. Had no issues in 600 miles of driving until now. I have a misfire, so I'm leaning towards that issue again...I hope there isn't any damage. I'm going to Advanced Auto Parts today after work and have them read the codes. This weekend I hope to...
Clean the MAF
Clean the TB (in my 07 i needed a new gasket, do I need one for this 5.4 too?)
Pull COPs, inspect and clean
If the codes say I have a misfire on a cylinder...how do I figure out which cylinder it is on the block?
Y'all will prob see me posting tonight with results from the scan and questions when I start working on the truck tomorrow. Thanks.
