Looks like Brew and Efarmer got you on the electrical before I got back to you. Nice work fellers!

I must ask though, what happened with the belt? I've only seen these shred like that when there is a pulley alignment issue.... or the belt wasn't put on all the way on one of the pulleys.

Hahaha, it was more right place/right time. Helping my nephew work on his go-cart from afar. He loves his new phone and video chat. There's a 98 F150 V8 with a very clean engine compartment sitting right outside his garage door. I just tasked him to show me that connector real quick since that one is right out in the open.

So yea, no biggy!

Usually, the serp belts begin to crack and breakdown over the outer surface first. Hard to notice unless you bend them and look close. Then the outer edges begin to lose pieces here and there for a time before completely shredding. You just have to remember to check it once in awhile....that can be most difficult lol.

I think it was just really really neglected. Half of it was still on there, and the back of it was almost completely white. The engine bay was just filled with shredded belt pieces and string.

Awesome, well thanks again. Yeah, I hadn't checked the belt in years. Guess I learned my lesson the hard way haha.

Update!
I wasn't able to find the 90* insert for sale that Jbrew figured out I was missing. I wound up modeling and 3d printing one for it which was fun. I put the new belt on and soldered in the new connector and everything is running great now. Thanks again for everyone's help!

Here's some pics of the 3d printed 90* insert for anyone interested.

My belt gave away similar to this. It gave away while driving. No power steering, but made it home. It was tough to steer. The belt had wrapped around the AC compressor and took me all evening to cut it out little by little. I was no fun, but finally got it all unwrapped.
