Ieiyiyiii...
Some will always be their own trucks worst enemy. Absolutely one of the worst things you can do to that poor truck.
Across the board, I'd have to guess most have caught on to that gimmick from the deep dark past. Perhaps 80% to the wise, 20% still in denial. Stems from researching Hype vs Forums I expect.
Most have caught on and head straight to forums for the best info.. now a days. In turn, this has made for a lot of healthier running Gen 10's still doin it today.
There's a reason for the good majority of f150's you find in the boneyards have a K&N under the hood...seriously.

Been using K&N on everything for a long time and none of my vehicles are in the bone-yard per the dude who thinks he helps with smart *** remarks. I researched the "helpful-smart-***" remark & there is no definitive proof cotton gauze filters cause damage, rather studies show they work if used properly. I tested my "cold-air" that another brainiac on here said is not real cold air. Results? Air is cold per IAT and increases 18 during 2 minutes of idle & drops quickly to ambient at 20mph. Did you read or test boys?
Now an XLT in Colorado

GreySVO , - I admit to the "helpful-smart-***" at times...hell of a lot better than the ladder.
