If you have the time you can remove the factory clear. I think I used paint stripper and oven cleaner but have to check my records on what I used. Then a palm sander and sandpaper from 220 or so to 5000 grit or more. I used the palm sander up to 1000 grit and the rest by hand with wet or dry. If after sanding you get a grey look when polishing STOP. Unfortunately you still have pores left in the aluminum that have to be removed. Go back and start sanding again. Pick a small area that' is easy to get to and start there. When you get it right the polish will show some shine immediately then keep going until your happy with it. If I remember correctly it would have cost me 150 to 175 bucks per wheel for them to be refurbished and I wasn't going that route. This is just a option.

I also have a color match bug deflector. I wish it had the rounded edges that extend onto the fender corners though. A lot of people don't like bug deflectors, some trucks do look awful with them, but I think our 10th gens pull them off.

thanks! You're thinking along the same lines as me, I feel like the deflector makes the edge of the hood look just a bit taller and gives the front end just the right amount of roundness. Although, I think 11th gens look better with them too. My '04 came with one, not PTM though. This '02 also came with it, my '99 came without one and we bought a black one and it made an improvement IMO. If I'd for seen getting the '02, I'd have kept it and put that deflector on this truck.

Y’all have any ideas for me for future upgrades? What do you guys think of getting rid of the fender flares?
I say keep it as is, simple, classic and clean. That is a beautiful truck imo. I think it would look incomplete without the fender flares.
