hey guys I have been having some issues with my 99 lightning wannabee I thought I would share and see if anyone else has experienced it.

I have been hearing this weird scraping and clicking sound out of my rear axle. at first it was just a scraping and I thought it was coming from the pinion bearing but I pulled the axles and the ring assembly out and the pinion bearing did not seem bad, and I did not have the right tools at the time to change the pinion bearing anyway so I put it back together and drove it like that for a while. then I started to notice a clicking in the drivers side wheel when I would be driving slow with the windows down. so I pulled the wheels off this weekend (somehow the stupid lug nut key got lost so that was a major ordeal lol) anyway I found out that the parking brake shoes had come apart somehow. the pad material had separated from the rest of the shoe and it was just sitting in there. since I did not have the replacement shoes at the time I just pulled the loose pieces out and put it back together. and it is no longer making any of those annoying noises.

has anyone else experienced the e-brake shoe failure like that?

Yep..I had the exact same problem. Thought it was a bearing until i pulled the back rotor off and e brake shoes fell on the floor. Autozone had the set for both sides for $25
