Default Should I trade? Part III

Okay, I apologize if this is getting old.. I've asked if I should trade my '99 F-150 XLT 4.6L V8 for a Mustang and also an Integra.

But this time, you're all gunna cut my head off.. This time.. it's a 1983 Chevrolet C-10.

My truck is an extended cab and has 169,000 miles on it. Has a dented hood, right front fender damage, inside of tailgate is dented, odo disappears, tranny is shifting kinda rough in 3rd and 4th, but engine runs strong. Brand new wheels and tires.

The C-10 has a new 350 motor with a turbo 350 3-speed auto transmission. I don't know what rear end it has, or gearing, etc. Any idea what kinda gas mileage I would be looking at here? About.. 11-15? Inside has been re-done, outside looks great. Nice wheels, tires have 50-75% tread.

What do you guys think?

I wouldnt just an honest opinon. Your going down alot of years. And your trucks pretty nice its not to bad. If i were you i would just drive it. And plus you probably have some expensive tires and wheels. But its truck man. Do what you think is right.

I was going to say yes... Until you said something about gas mileage... Tells me you don't need an older truck.. That Chevy is pretty slick, But it will need work... No matter how good of shape its in... Any old truck is going to need work...

Dannng, really? That low?

I really like the truck, but I don't know if I can deal with 8-10 MPG. I can deal with 12-15.. But doesn't it kinda depend on the carb and the rear end too?

my friend has a 1980 chevy that has the 350 and 3 speed, i dont think he has even seen 10 mpg. 5-8 is about what he gets.

With a 350 and a 3 speed, I'd agree with the 8-10

The rear end gearing is also relevant but the 3 speed is the big killer here

Alright thanks.

I think I'll meet up with him and see if he'll let me test drive it up to about 70mph and see what the RPMs are at that point and see if I think it'll be bad. I drive about 40 minutes to school and 40 minutes back twice a week, but I do own a motorcycle if I want good gas mileage. Other than that, I drive less than 30 miles a day around town for work.

Might be worth looking at, regardless of gas mileage.

Good looking truck plus it's a short bed reg cab (kinda rare) wheels and tire are period correct but not a selling point for me. I think if u strapped on a 2bbl carb and drove it nice 11-15 wouldn't be too far fetched. My question is does it have heat/air? That's my selling point right there.
