Desireable/valuble? Maybe, the short bed helps that some, but they aren't at all rare, at least not here...

Ahh really? Maybe that fella on here was mistaken or just pullin' my leg.

Still, it's such a tempting trade.

Can someone answer me about the carb though? Isn't it possible that the 650 Holley that's on it is already a Quadra-jet like this one: http://www.holley.com/0-80555C.asp ????

No.... A holly 650 is a holly 650....

A Quadrajet is made by Rochester ... And they came stock on the older chevys.

Both are 4barrel.

Sooo... a Quadrajet instead of the Holley would possibly give me an extra 4-6 MPG?

If you just want it for a nice driving truck, and not a go fast mobile, id consider looking into a different rear end. A higher geared diff will get you a better cruising rpm, but it'll take longer to get to speed. A 3.08 or 3.23 rear would be real easy to find in the junkyard

I had several Chevies of this vintage and they were good trucks on par with Ford models of this era with better performance but not as reliable. The one pictured appears to have been lowered so I would definately check the condition and quality of the suspension pieces. Personally I avoid modded vehicles as they can have a lot of surprises.
SBC 350s are good motors and can give good mileage but 3.73s, TH350, and the 650 Holley would probably get you 10-14 tops depending on the cam and intake.
You said the 650 Holley was a Quadrajet replacement. Is it a spreadbore carb or one that was made to match up to the Chevies throttle and tranny linkage.
YMMV

Talking about being an *** to members. Great job.

Thanks a ton. You're a real classy guy!

I'm 21 years old, and I really hope you're not much older than that. If so, it's somewhat sad that you're maturity level has been surpassed by a "youngin" that has been nothing but nice and professional.

Thanks again and thanks to everyone that has answered. You've really been of great help and I will take all of your responses into consideration as I make this decision.

I've answered every question you have asked? You are only 5 years younger than myself(I don't know what age has to do with this) You will get no where here if you are demanding answers and telling people to stay out of your thread unless they are giving you 100% information.. Just saying.

I've never called you an ***, I said you were being rude.

I've had about 50 older chevy trucks. Still have one. Built many GM motors and comeplete trucks.

But i will leave this hear... And i won't clutter up your threads anymore.

With how it's set up, cruising at 70 MPH will put your RPM around 3,300. Not so great for MPG but not too bad for passing. I wouldn't trade.
