Its geared fairly high, with if I remember correctly the stronger rear end.

You are looking at single digit gas mileage, realistically you'd be lucky to get around 10, and it will be less than that at highway speeds.

You might be used to 15mpg crap gas milage and how much that costs you, 7.5mpg will cost you twice as much.

If I were you I wouldnt do it.

Holly 650 is a ok carb.... If you were going to drive it daily i'd find a good Qaudrajet(A good quadrajet) And it will out perform and get better fuel mileage.

10mpg will be likely...

3.73's are lower geared than it would have came stock (more than likely.)... They usually come with 3.08's

10bolt rear end is the light duty rear end.... 12bolt would have been the better...

That 350 is the easiest automotive engine made to keep running. Very simple/will last forever. But you will have to work on it. Its an old truck.

TH350 is a good trans.

Single cab shortbeds are not really that rare...

I wouldn't trade, Unless you wanted a project truck.

Are you saying 10 MPG with a good Quadra-jet? Or how it sits?

Isn't it possible that it's already a Quadra-jet? This is a Holley 650 and it says it's a Quadra-jet replacement: http://www.holley.com/0-80555C.asp

Also, I don't really understand why it would need much work..
The motor has less than 1,000 miles on it (almost brand new).

Could you explain how it would be a project truck when it seems to be fairly finished? (Not being a smart@$$, just a legitimate question from somebody that has never really owned anything older than a '93).

It's an old Chevy yeah it's got a (new motor) and the paint looks good u don't think suspension parts are worn out u don't think u joints could be worn u don't think the rear end gears may have some slack. U don't think a truck that old may have some leaks here and there. Bottom line u can come look at my truck and i can tell u its in perfect shape nothing wrong u done said u dont have much experience with cars. Don't trust anyone most people refer to a new Motor as new to the truck. Not brand new. It was prolly (rebuilt) hence chrome valve covers and painted haha more like I got it and put plugs in it and it cranks now.he thinks now I better trade it are sale it why I still can. Keep ur ford man. Look for something else to trade for. The 350 turbo is a good trans but It makes them trucks gas hogs. There's nothing special about that truck u can buy them all day long for 1500-2000 where I'm from. The 4x4s go for a lil more tho.

I deleted those comments.

But, If you are going to want answers, You are going about it in a rude way. This is the 3rd should i trade thread, from you. You won't get too many answers if you are being an *** to other members.

For your answer....

How do you know the engine only has 1000 miles on it? The truck is a 83.. Anything that old is a rolling project. It's going to need tweaked and tuned all the time. You will need to learn how to work on it.

I have not been rude. I think I have been the opposite of rude.. I simply need answers and can't get them if 3-4 people start talking about a completely different couple of trucks on the thread that I started.

I feel like I was fairly polite about it.

Thanks.

I wouldn't call a 30 year old 2wd truck rare in any way, especially a GM C series. They were all 2wd.
Desireable/valuble? Maybe, the short bed helps that some, but they aren't at all rare, at least not here...
