Default 99 F150 Restomod

Hi Ford enthusiasts,

I'm new to the mechanical car world and don't have much knowledge about the inner workings, but I'm planning a restomod project on a 1999 Ford Truck F150 1/2 ton P/U 2WD 4.2L FI OHV 6. I want to gut the shell and put all new parts with a 5.0L coyote with 6 speed manual transmission. I'm doing research on what I'll need to look into but if anyone here has a checklist they could share that would be greatly appreciated. Also I got the crazy idea of trying to fit a 2019 raptor interior inside of my 99. Has anyone ever heard of someone doing this or know if it is possible with little to no customization.

Ernesto, Just some friendly advice based on your experience. What you want to do is completely doable but I'd suggest you don't start by biting off more than you might find out what you can chew. Make a list of everything you'd like to do and start with some of the less involved changes you're interested in. 9 out of 10 people I've seen in your situation with your experience have no problem tearing the vehicles down, realize what they've gotten themselves in to and either end up selling a basket case or live with a garage full of truck parts. And don't fall in to the "I know," "My friends," "My dad or brother," etc. Don't fool yourself and believe it. It's your project and it will be your work unless your plan is to pull out your wallet for the work that needs to get done. Also don't listen to the, "It will cost more than the truck is worth" nonsense if this is what you want. Bear in mind though that with your experience, take whatever you think this is going to cost you and multiply it by at least 3 or 4 times and prepare to make a lot of mistakes based on your experience. The kind of mistakes I'm referring to go like this, "I see now I should have done this, this and this before I did this, this or this." It's all doable though if this is what you want. Get yourself some of the books on building a restomod. Not so much for specific information on your truck but on what's involved, the process and how to plan a project.

It's a great way to either find out that you love this type of thing to invest every spare minute of your time for the next few years or find out that it's beyond your financial and/or mechanical abilities. The motor upgrade is almost plug and play at this point if you have the cash. The interior upgrade is going to be more of a project.
