Default Shorter Antennas That Actually Work

I want to get a cover for my truck for a number of reasons - I have a new paint job on it and the Miami weather is brutal on paint + there are trees in my community that are not easy on vehicles whatsoever.

It makes little sense to me that car cover manufacturers offer a wee patch in order to fit a large antenna through it since one of the ideas at least is to have the cover be water tight. Is there a shorter antenna that anyone uses that does a good job picking up radio (I still use mine often) that'll fit a 2000?

You can pop the top ball off, cut your antenna down to size with wire cutters and then glue (jb weld?) the ball back on top and poof you've shortened your antenna.
Here's a quick video that shows it

It's no difference than buying a shorter antenna but you can always buy one if you want.

Depends on the distance to the station you listen to. If you listen to AM than forget short.

In my case, I replaced it with one of those interior antennas for like $8 so i can remove my attenna completely. I shoved mine up top inside the dashboard and its worked well. but then again I live somewhat in the city and I havent tried AM (mostly listen to spotify or FM)

If you're in a metro area with stations nearby, you can use most anything. Out here where I live, no way a shorter antenna will work. And I agree with simply shortening yours if you can. IMO, there's no need to spend money on something you can modify, unless you simply *must* one that looks like a .50 cal bullet, or something.

If it wasn't for the price I would have to get one of those.
