shocks??
I've got a 99 XLT Sport package with all stock suspension and 285/75/17 with stock rims. I plan on doing a 2-3" level with AALs in the rear and cranking the tbars. I need better shocks, still running stock with about 150k. Which do you guys recommend? Im looking into pro comp, rough country and zone (cheaper). Does any have experience with zone shocks, and other products such as lifts? And, with the level kit, even if the lift doesn't quite give me 3", should i still get 3" shocks or just 2"?
Thanks! |
I got the bars turned up on my truck and then put stock sized Pro comps on my truck, no need for bigger, and the truck rides great.

So unless I put a full suspension lift which would require larger shocks, I can stick with stock even with about 3 more inches of clearance?? Also, if I were to get larger ones would it matter if the lift wasnt quite 3" and I went with 3" shocks? Which series of pro comps did you use. I want a smooth ride on road but still want good performance off road. I know it wont be a caddy but its got to be better than what it is, I've rode solid frame old school bikes that ride better!

Well if your gonna crank the bars its gonna ride like a 1 ton. and unless your getting aftermarket keys i don't think you'll get 3" out of stock keys. with my bars cranked to max it road like complete ass and offroading i was scared to take pot holes fast it felt like i was riding on steel blocks on the front bro.

I was figuring about 2-2 1/2 inches on tbars then AALs in the rear. So it will be about 2 1/2 all the way around. Should I just stick with stock shock size??

You're gonna get 2.5" with them maxed. he has stock keys. and you can crank them to the max but the more you crank them the faster ball joints wear out.
|
^ what he said, you'll get somewhere around 2-2 1/2" of lift off the stock keys.
