SAS axle questions
I'm pretty committed to doing the SAS swap for my 97 scab. The plan is to go with the rpmfab kit with 6 inch springs all around and hopefully the Dana 60 from a 78/79 250 or 350 up front. My question is about the rear axle and what what truck will have an axle that will better match the Dana 60 (8×6.5 lug) than my little 8.8. Any words of wisdom about the whole process, especially info about the rear axle to use is appreciated.

I would just find 99-04 Superduty axles. Then they are matched width wise. Also they are cheaper a Kngpin High pinion D60 from a ford will cost as much if not more than the newer axles from a 99-04 superduty. On the rear end you will need to move the leaf perches or modifyy a lot of components. Its easier to move the perches and get lift leaf springs for the stock truck.

As for the rear diff. I'd go with an older sterling or 14 bolt. Both will match the bolt pattern for the front you have to use with the kit. Spring perches will need to be moved but thats not a big deal

Where would I be able to get a kit that would be compatible to the newer axle? I am absolutely not a professional fabricator so making it myself wouldnt be the best idea.

Parts for the sterling axle will be a little more pricier than a d60 70 80 whatever. Can get a d70 off a dodge 3/4 ton. Look at pirate 4x4 they do alot of SAS builds there's a ton of knowledge to be found there.

To my knowledge there is no kit available anymore. There's a reason not many people sas these trucks.
