Default rusty doors & rockers

i've got 2003 screw F150 that I love w/ 150k and expect to have for 3-4 years yet. The bottoms of doors and rockers are rusting thru, I'm in WI. Many of you must be in the same position. Have you done rust panel replacement, new / used doors or what? And what are the costs?

I got a quote for $3,000-$6,000 on mine. And the supercrew rear doors are impossible to find but if you find one it'll cost a lot.

The shop I took mine to said at least $5k, I laughed in his face and told him I'd go through welding school and do it myself all for cheaper than that.

I'm sure I could make something work for much less

my kid got his rockers fixed for $1000, doors aren't too bad yet but are getting there.

Get some PB blaster white lithium grease and spray the door bottoms and tailgate at the bottom. It has slowed the rust quite a bit on mine. ( don't use the WD-40 kind it's really runny)

I use oil on a rag and it's seemingly slowed mine.

You can get another truck with same mileage for the cost to fix.

Yup. Come down south. Mine spent it's whole life in Alabama and doesn't have a speck of rust underneath. I now live in Louisiana and the salvage yard I go to is chock full of rust free 10th gens.
