Default Rolled over 500,000mi

03 F150 Lariat SuperCrew purchased new. Have been using Valvoline Full Synthetic 5w-20 for years, change every 5000 to 7000 miles. Just turned over 500K miles, original motor, and original transmission. Little bit of valve and cam chain noise on startup, but still running very well. Dreading the engine replacement that is in the future, but hoping to keep this one running as long as possible. 5K for engine, or 50K for new truck. Kind of a no-brainer for me.

Was watching very carefully so not to miss this momentus event!

Wow. I guess that settles it then.

Default Cam chain noise

I have observed a couple of things... may be coincidence, but it seems that the cam chain noise is more pronounced (at cold start-up) if the vehicle is parked uphill (driveway is on a slope) as compared to when parked downhill... the noise lasts 1-2 seconds downhill, and 4-5 seconds parked uphill. I also note that if the oil is a bit low (1 qt) the noise also lasts longer.

Mine always makes a lot of cam chain noise immediately after an oil change, maybe because the oil has drained completely from all of the lines?

I just realized these posts were in the 04-08 oil thread and this truck was a 03, but I definitely didn't want to delete this picture. Moved to a new thread.

That is the problem I am running into. Engine is at 225k for me, but the body and other parts are rusting apart from the Northeast winters. If I lived in AZ, no doubt I'd put 500K on mine as well.
