Rolled off the corners of a spark plug. Now what.

Is there room to get a cheater pipe on the breaker bar? I learned a lesson long ago about using cheater pipes when dismantling oilfield equipment. Once used a 20' pipe to loosen a pipe union. Broke free smooth as butter... It helps to apply the torque with less stress. Just a thought. Just changed my plugs recently. Thankfully they all came out pretty easily.

Thanks Phil03, yeah I made a couple of cheater bars out of pipe years ago....cold rolled steel I have a 3 footer and a 6 footer. I have busted Craftsman breaker bars 1/2" and 3/8" with these in the past, I need to find a stronger breaker bar manufacturer....

The good news is, all other 7 plugs are behaving (GASP) like spark plugs should and came out without any issue.

I am using the smaller 14mm Irwin extract socket, trying to clamp down on the lower half of the remaining plug, it is biting but MAN I can put all 220+lbs on the cheater bar and it will hold me. So I am doing that, applying torque and striking the top of the breaker bar with a hammer to get some "impact"-like pressure. I think an EZ out #5 would be better to use, more direct friction right at the threads.....but I ain't got one....yet....

I do not envy you at all. If you wind up drilling it out, be sure to get all that crap outta there.

EDIT: Might have mentioned this earlier, but this kit is cheap and also done a number of great things for me. I've used it for several jobs. It's well built for under 8 bucks too.

Extremely useful tool, white89gt. I made an attachment for my wife's Dyson (Shhh!) with elec tape and a piece of tubing.

I only used her vacuum because my shop vac crapped out on me while sucking the bird's nest out.

I guess this is not a Ford issue only. I've seen Tubers with the same issue on Hondas. So I guess my experience isn't much, I have just not had the pleasure of breaking a spark plug before.

FWIW, why did Ford move away from the normal 2v plugs, to a custom plug for 3v's?? Lastly, could I throw a Lightning blower on here without changing internals?

JUST KIDDING! hahaha

How resilient is JB Weld? Would it deny all attempts to turn this thing out?
Should I throw some oxy/acet down the hole and melt the whole thing out?
(KIDDING but I really want to)

What is this "Big Sert" fix - of course I know it's the threaded inserts but is this a brand name or something? Larger bore to accomodate all the thrashing around I am doing?

If a breaker bar had legs, it would use them around you lol. Hell just weld a socket adapter on your cheaters. At least a 3/4" lol.

Are you sure that was a "birds nest" ? I seen you making yourself at home on top of that engine.

Update

I bought a #5 EZOut

Not working. I went for the cheater pipe, but I am more afraid of the EO snapping off in there.

Ya know, for the 5 threads Ford put in this head for plugs, they sure hold on good. LOL. Something is wrong with this. I got all the other 7 plugs out no problem. This plug must have been welded from inside the head, as a cruel joke.

If I were to drill....what size bit? And what size tap.
