Default Rims on Lifts

I was reading on one of the lift kits out there and it states that you cannot use factory rims, is this true?? If Yes than is there a backspace issue? I want to run 17x8 rims; guess I just need to know what backspacing I need on them??

Secondly will 265-70-17 tires fit on 17x8 rims? Current rims are 17x7.5; I am sure they will but never hurts to ask!

its a back spacing issue... the only lift i think u can use factory rims is fabtech... i know of guys running factory rims on lifts... but get a 4.5" back spacing and i think its a -12mm offset same as im running and no issues

Default lift with wheels

yea i knw most lift kits require at least 4.5 inchs of backspacing to clear the lifted steering knukles that the lift kit uses. stock rims lay inside the body line so much that the wheel covers the steering knukles which is ok until you put bigger ones on when lifting. if you do a body lift of course you dont have to worry about that.

It also depends what type of package you have? I mean like 4wd or 2wd? Cause if you have a 2wd and are looking at a spindle lift you should be fine. Im running my factory wheels on a spindle lift with 265's.

Fx4 just has skid plates, Rancho shocks, 355 (scab) 373 (screw) gears, fx4 17" wheels, and optional limited slip (trac-lok).
