I have a 98 F150 4x4 with a 4.6L V8. It has the remote oil filter behind the bumper on the driver's side. My uncle has a 00 same motor 4x4 sport that doesn't have the remote filter on it. My oil lines are leaking. I am losing about 1/2 qt oil/3000 miles. Is there any was to remove that remote kit and install the filter directly to the block? My local dealership wants $300 and change for just the part. The truck has about 150,000 miles on it and everything else under the truck is dry but those lines. Thanks for the help. It doesn't seem like a lot of oil to lose but I don't want to be on the road when the hose fails.

Would assume the filter adapter could be removed and the original mount would be available. Am just wondering why you are not trying to replace the oil lines. Remove them and go to NAPA and have new ones made.

if u still wanted to get rid of the remote filter u could just check out the local junk yard for the part

My 97 had a leak from those same hoses. Pulling the skid plate you can see it well. I bought them from TitusWillFordParts.com $200 with shipping, Ford p/n F8TZ-6716-AA. Cole Ford and I posted on these late last winter with pics.

The hoses are complete with the pipes and mounting blocks. Printed on the hose is, " oil cooler hose 7644 5/8" p072v 0547A."

my '97 f150 4.6 has the remote oil filter kit on it. I would highly suggest replacing the lines instead of removing the kit. You would not believe how much easier it makes an oil change. If you move the oil filter back to OE location, it will dump all over the front pumpkin everytime you do an oil change. Keep the location and replace the lines, but if you really want to move it, if i remember correctly, the OE bracket is installed on the filter location, it will bolt back up to the block. No need to go buy new parts.

Try Rock Auto, they are called remote oil cooler lines or something similar, I think they are about $100 or so. One is tapped for a oil sending unit and the other is not tapped.

I don't really think that getting new hoses custom made hoses is a viable solution.
