Replace Speedo Cluster w/Speedo-Tach Cluster
Hey all
My speedo quit but the odometer still works so it looks like I need a replacement speedo. My current cluster only has a speedo, no tach. Can I replace it with a speedo-tach cluster and have everything work?

It will swap in and the tach should work as long as all the wiring is there, which it probably is. But it'll have to be reprogrammed at a dealer. At least from other vehicles i've seen swap clusters, the cluster also stores the vin and mileage from the vehicle it was originally in, so that will also have to be changed to your vin along with your mileage reading. All done to protect from mileage fraud.

97-98 fits right in. 99+ you need to have the dealer match the cluster to the PCM for the PATS. Most dealers will not do it bcasue of the odometer reading on the 99+. It is stored in the cluster memory. They will want to sell you a new cluster with your current mileage programmed in at the factory. Try a locksmith. Some may have the necessary electronics to do match the PATS.

Yeah that's what I meant. He HAS a 97, so he NEEDS an analog panel. Even if you could find a dealership to flash a gauge panel for you in a 99+ you would need to tow the truck there, install the gauge panel and then have them flash it or you would have the most expensive yard ornament known to man.
