Default removing an oil pan

So im about to remove to oil pan to check all the pickups and screen.. do i have to drop the front diff or raise the motor? or is it as easy as removing the cross member and unbolting the pan?

Please if you have experience in doing this let me know what you had to do.

I have. You will have to drop the front diff to get out.

I tried doing it in both 4.6 and 5.4. No way around dropping the diff.

6 axle bolts on each side, 4 driveshaft flange bolts, 3 bolts holding the diff in, the cross member brace has 4 bolts in it..

So did you drop the oil pan yet? I can tell you that you are lucky that you have a front diff to drop. With the 2x4 you have to pull the engine, Im thinking I can drop the trans and raise the engine then slide the oil pan out but still no luck so far.
