I found a few holes in the pipes today as I was wd40 -ing the system as I'm waiting for the parts. I wonder if I should have ordered the cat sensors as well? I can see the o2 sensors are a rust thru malfunction waiting to happen. I'm going to get the neutral SS and a muffler too. Do you know the logic in using aluminum there? Just curious. Good thing I decided to remove the pipe to work on taking out the sensor. I was getting ready to weld a steel nut on what is left of it!
When you cut the y pipe, did you weld it or use a clamp?

Mine was steel according to my magnet and drills. I cut the pipe where you did after a couple days working and getting nowhere. left o2 sensors cut out and new bungs welded in. flange stud you can reach through wheel well came out after welding nut on, but threads were flattened. Must have been cross threaded. The other one wouldn't budge after 4 red hots and 5 broken welded on nuts. Drilled out with great drills made by "Norseman" sold by Fastenall. Had to spend at least $25, but they are under $5 each and are the best I've ever used! When the exhaust pipe and manifold were separated, I was expecting a doughnut or some kind of gasket, but there wasn't one. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I haven't done exhaust work in 30-40 years so I don't know.
